Here is what a stay at Wayfinder Waikiki looks like from behind the camera.
I collaborate with hotels and resorts on photo and video work, and this stay was hosted. What follows is my experience and the media that came out of it, not a rated review.
The hotel
Wayfinder sits a few blocks back from the beach in Waikiki, close enough to walk to everything and far enough to escape the strip. It is a design-forward property: mid-century furniture, plants everywhere, a pool deck that fills with locals and guests on a weekday afternoon, and a lobby that feels more like a well-run café than a hotel front desk. The rooms are compact and considered, with the kind of textures and light that photograph well without staging.
What we shot
The room in morning light, the pool from the deck and from above, the coffee bar and the common spaces, and the walk from the front door to the sand. Waikiki is shot to death, so the goal was the hotel's own personality rather than another sunset over Diamond Head.
Worth knowing
- Good for couples, creatives and solo travellers who want Waikiki without the resort tower feel.
- The pool deck is the social heart of the place. Shoot it early for empty frames, late for atmosphere.
- Everything is walkable: beach, breakfast, Kalakaua Avenue.
- Ask for an upper floor for light and quiet.
If you are headed to O'ahu and want a laid-back, design-led base close to everything Waikiki offers, Wayfinder Waikiki is a good one.
